Refinance VA Home Loans

4 Simple Steps to VA Mortgage Refinancing

Step 1 – Determine VA Loan Refinance Type

First determine which type of VA Loan Refinance you need.  There are three types of of VA Home Loan refinancing: 1) VA Streamline Refinance, 2) Conventional to VA Loan Refinance and 3) Cash Out VA Refinance.  For more information on each of these see our VA Mortgage Refinance page.

Step 2 – Pre-Qualify for VA Refinance

The next step for a VA Loan Refinance is to get in touch with a VA Home Loan Specialist at a VA Approved Lender and get pre-qualified.  Your VA Home Loan Specialist will be able to help determine which VA Refinance loan is appropriate for you and verify that you qualify for that VA Loan.  You can fill out the short form to the right and a VA Loan Specialist will contact you.

Step 3 – Full VA Loan Application

Once your VA Home Loan Specialist has determined you are pre-qualified for a VA Loan Refinance, they will prepare for you the formal VA Mortgage Loan application on the standard Universal Residential Loan Application all lenders use. They’ll also prepare all the required disclosures for you to sign and provide you with a list of personal documents that will be required for the VA Loan.

Step 4 – Close Your VA Loan Refinance

Once your lender has your VA Home Loan application and documents, they will process and underwrite your loan, including ordering the VA Appraisal if necessary. After your VA Loan is approved, you’ll go to closing at a title agency or attorney’s office where the loan documents are signed. Your old home loan is paid off, your new VA Refinance Loan is put in place, and you’ll soon start receiving your new lower VA mortgage payment statement in the mail.
